MASQUERADE

A moose stands in a garden with an energized aura, and a 3-D version of its head is attached. Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s tondo painting, titled “The Misanthrope,” 1568, is embedded in its side. The Misanthrope is a hater of mankind, and the image is inscribed “Because the world is so faithless, I am going into the mourning.”

The thief in the glass globe, trying to pickpocket the Misanthrope, is a symbol of vanity. Behind The Misanthrope, there is a missile being launched. At the bottom are details of Max Ernst’s “The Joy of Living,” 1936, and “Garden Inhabited by Chimera,” 1936, with my hand additions, tying it all together.
